Ran Combofix On My Own Now Have Problems
If you wish to be treated more pleasantly, don't come crashing in and making accusations about things you appear to not understand... Simply put - ComboFix is a LAST resort and it desperately needs to stop being recommend as a first step. :) permalinkembedsaveparentgive gold[–]12Mucinexes 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago(0 children)Ahh. I have previously used multiple tools and command line to perform those tasks. Since I am not very good at configuring anything, I have actually printed out every topic covered so that I have a good reference as I attempt to set up my http://scvanet.org/ran-combofix/ran-combofix-and-it-seems-to-have-fixed-my-problems.html
permalinkembedsavegive gold[–]sthdown 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago(7 children)Is AVG off the table now days? In addition, the restore from Quarantine process is almost too slow to describe properly. With the onset of software exploitation leading to malware (drive-by downloads, malvertisements, etc.), no one can just suggest "don't click on shady shit" and leave it at that. While running, a couple of times KIS warned of 'Security Threats detected advise to neutrakize immediately' which I did.
As always, use your own discretion with all advice here. EDIT: Just checked, BitDefender Free now does live background scanning. Thank you for your time.Don, Thank you for you response.
- I was in quite a panic last night & did not remember to tell you that I did not run Combofix on my own...
- Maybe if you read your on forum and links you would see that combo fix was withdrawn for a time in 2007 because a rootkit in the wild caused combo fix
- Does anyone have a tip for me?
- permalinkembedsavegive gold[–]cuddlychops06Trusted[S] 1 point2 points3 points 1 year ago(0 children)The author updated JRT to not remove it.
- Also, I have had moments when I thought my computer had a hardware problem, and other times that it is malware.
- It has vista premium, avg free, windows defender, firewall, ect on it.
- Thank you!
- It does not always remove various programs correctly.
I can get to my default homepage (www.comcast.net) When I click on the icon there to go to my comcast mail Inbox, everything appears to move very fast, as it always I hope someone will give me some assistence soon. permalinkembedsavegive gold[–]Bver 1 point2 points3 points 1 year ago(1 child)Hitman Pro is also another great tool with the downside it's mainly a 30 day trial. As for your greeting here, you came in making outrageous claims about a tool that we use to help people all over the web and provide no support for those claims...
Then press “Cleaning” when finished and allow it to reboot your system. I will update if that did not work, but so far so good. Happy to help. :-) permalinkembedsaveparentgive gold[–]feo_ZA 2 points3 points4 points 1 year ago(1 child)Question, for Malwarebytes, is it worth it to pay for the Premium version? It took me 2 weeks to find out why SpywareDoctor was finding an infection in my registry called "Application.NirCmd." Now I come to realize that it is most likely ComboFix.
Then, run a “Scan” Successfully removes the vast majority of infections Has an industry-leading built-in rootkit/bootkit scanning engine Has built-in repair tools to fix damage done by malware 3) Run It makes its presence known. thank you for your input. permalinkembedsaveparentgive gold[–]cuddlychops06Trusted[S] 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago(0 children)Don't just remove the extensions.
Make a GSI log and post the link here in this thread.1. Really not as harsh as most people put it out to be. I am unsure which step removed it though. permalinkembedsaveparent[–]sthdown 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago(0 children)Hmm.
My problem only was resolved from doing step number 5. http://scvanet.org/ran-combofix/ran-combofix-have-a-log.html I've tried everything on this list and it still persists. Budfred07-12-2009, 12:22 PMComboFix is extremely powerful and is only intended to be used under the supervision of a trained helper... the second time, I'm assuming you refer to the post under 'kay_ikram', that was my mum and it was her responsibility to follow up, which she did not do.
I worked removing viruses as a small internship in high school and now as a systems admin so I have a little more experience and have never had a problem, but Thank you for your help, & I will post back with an update. permalinkembedsaveparentgive gold[–]Charlemagne712 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago(1 child)so i was downloading malwarebytes and running rkill at the same time. this content http://download.cnet.com/NirCmd/3000-2094_4-77191.html http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Miscellaneous/NirCmd.shtml http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/nircmd.html http://www.snapfiles.com/get/nircmd.html Again, assuming you did not install ComboFix yourself, it is not installed by any other legitimate program...
permalinkembedsaveparentgive gold[–]yfewsy 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago(0 children)This too is how I learned. I think the source of infection was when I recently installed Odin - to install a custom recovery on my android phone. How do I know?
Someone will attend to you as soon as they can.
I appreciate your time & assistance so much. The only 'illegal' thing in my computer would be MS Office, and I haven't used that regularily (if at all) in about a year. uBlock is a great ad blocker extension if you could look into it. the computer is still slow, So I downloaded and ran avg pc tune-up, didnt help.
The system returned: (22) Invalid argument The remote host or network may be down. I understand many people have run this tool successfully with no issues, but I've seen it brick many machines when attempting to remove malware. Half the time, 100% effectiveness. have a peek at these guys I am guessing you mean McAfee??
If it try to load it manually the process shows up in task manager for a bit but then a "Runoncewrapper" also shows up and explorer then dissapears. Blog spam, link spam, referral spam, joke responses, memes, novelty accounts, trolling, unethical behavior, and personal insults will not be tolerated. I'm sure this will help a lot of people. I clicked 'OK' and before I could make sure that AVG was fully disabled, Combofix started running and it was too late to do anything) my computer restarted and is now
I restored them from Quarantine, but this seems like maybe there is an issue with the program if it's deleting the whole folder for a fairly stable game system. Thank you for your time. permalinkembedsaveparentgive gold[–]Bver 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago(3 children)Combofix disables the network adapter but if it doesn't restart the system, will remain disabled until a restart. If I click on the icon for IE I first get "Access denied by kaspersky"...
And if it isn't running and isn't anywhere you can find it, then it isn't there...except for a leftover registry entry...that can either be ignored (like recommended) or manually searched for
